Could you tell us a little bit about your farm or farmland?
Stonewood Farm is a small, certified organic vegetable farm and 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in the mid Hudson Valley. Our mission is to grow best quality vegetables to improve local food access and reduce food insecurity, to care for the planet by educating future farmers in regenerative farming practices and by reducing food waste, and to foster local partnerships that cultivate a network of care for the most vulnerable among us. We farm mostly on a hand scale, but do have a small tractor for moving compost, etc.
What type of arrangement are you looking to make with a farmer? We are looking to hire a co-manager for the farm! While we do not have land available for lease or to sell, we are looking to connect with experienced farmers in the area and use the New York Farmland Finder as a tool to recruit farmers to work here. You can learn more about the co-manager position on our New York Farmland Finder profile!
Do you have any personal goals for making your land available for farming? One of the long term goals of Stonewood is to improve soils year over year in an effort to nurture the life that depends on it and reduce input costs.
Is there anything else you would like for a farmer to know about you or your land? You can learn all about Stonewood Farm at www.stonewoodny.org and @stonewoodny on Instagram
