About the Organization

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCE Sullivan) is a trusted community resource dedicated to strengthening the region’s agriculture and food systems. We provide research-based education, technical assistance, and programming that supports farmers, food entrepreneurs, and landowners in building resilient, sustainable operations.

Our Agriculture and Food Systems team works directly with local producers to enhance farm viability, improve market access, and promote best practices in production and land management. We offer support in business planning, farmland access and transfer, value-added production, and regulatory compliance. We also provide farm food safety education and technical assistance, helping producers meet standards like FSMA and GAP certification.

Through our Beginner Farmer Program, we help new and aspiring farmers gain the skills and connections needed to succeed. Our Catskills Kitchen Food Business Incubator offers a certified commercial kitchen and business development support for food entrepreneurs looking to launch or scale value-added products.

CCE Sullivan also plays a key role in local food system development, partnering with the Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corporation, Orange County Land Trust, and Sullivan County government to advance farmland preservation and economic development. Rooted in Cornell University’s land-grant mission, we empower communities through education, innovation, and collaboration.

Regional Navigator Services

CCE Sullivan County provides tailored support for farmland seekers and landowners navigating farmland access and transfer. We offer technical assistance with land leasing, farm succession planning, and understanding zoning and land use considerations.

We proudly run a Beginner Farmer Program, which equips new and aspiring farmers with the knowledge, skills, and connections needed to launch and grow successful farm businesses. This includes workshops, mentorship, and access to regional resources.

We also connects farmers to our partner Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corporation (HVADC) for support in farm transition planning, business development, and access to capital. In addition, we work closely with Sullivan County on farmland preservation initiatives and collaborate with the Orange County Land Trust to support land conservation and access efforts.
