Farming status, plans, and practices

I currently work full-time on a farm. I am hoping to build up a "homestead"/community-focused farm with a team of like minded folks.

Planning a diversified veg and livestock operation with some grains in rotation as well. Interested in permaculture practices, agroforestry, and food forest building.

Looking to follow organic, no-spray practices and reduce tillage as much as possible. Ideally hoping to practice no-till agriculture.

Hoping to incorporate livestock (primarily chickens and sheep) to work in tandem with tree crops (apples, pears, peaches maybe). I have experience working with nut trees and would love to begin an American chestnut planting.

Planning to start small with 2-3 acres and expand to 10+.

Farm Experience & Education

  • Farm internship/apprenticeship
  • On farm work experience

Apprenticeship program through Glynwood.

Worked two seasons on farms in the Hudson Valley and one season part-time on a farm in NJ, all organic-certified diversified veg operations

15+ years' experience working on horse farms
