Farming status, plans, and practices
We are two new farmers recently licensed to grow cannabis in mixed-light (greenhouse) and outdoor capacity. We are currently operating an outdoor cannabis cultivation and are looking for our forever farm in Hudson Valley and nearby regions.
As we are planning on growing in greenhouses, we are looking to build infrastructure on the land including greenhouses and conservatively sized drying and curing buildings/ barns.
Our ideal arrangement would be a lease-to-own agreement to allow a reasonable ramp-up period. That said, we are flexible and not capital constrained. We are also focused on a regenerative approach to our outdoor operation including utilizing practices that enrich the soil, leaving it healthier and more fertile than we find it. This involves minimizing tillage, utilizing year round, season-specific cover crops and biochar. We are well aware this not only helps our plants to thrive, but also keeps our practice environmentally sustainable.
The cannabis market here in New York is booming and we are coming in at the perfect time to catch this wave with a detailed plan and full focus. The NY Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) reported a shortage of just under 400k pounds of cannabis this year and this amount is expected to double by 2027. This provides a market in serious demand of quality material and opens major channels for sell-through.
If you think your land may be a good fit, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Farm Experience & Education
Farming is in our blood as one of our founders grew up in a farming family running a dairy and cow operation in New Zealand.
In the cannabis realm, we have a deep network and wholesale relationships ensuring quick sell through. We have operated in the cannabis space for the past decade and are excited to begin our own journey at the new farm.
We spent the last year working the fields of a 100,000 sq ft (canopy, not total acreage) outdoor cannabis grow. We are meticulous about our plan and best practices to ensure the plants have the best chance to produce premium quality flowers. This requires close attention to weeding, watering, pests, and propagation. They call it "weed" because it grows like one, but it is particularly temperamental if you want a quality product at harvest time.
We know farming is not for the faint of heart and farming cannabis is an additional challenge, but it is our passion to bring quality cannabis to the market with a regenerative approach.
